Hanging out at home

hi all! We've been fairly busy lately but we'll be taking it slow for a little while for both baby and my sake. Got my assignment to do this week. Amelie has been good! Not waking up so much - or not that I have noticed, Yuki's been helping me out more at night and at least I'm sleeping better. She only woke 3 times last night so thats a start. Yuki and I have been talking to Joey and thinking its about time that we start getting life into a bit more of a routine. Its a difficult thing to do because it means I have to be organised! and do things when Im supposed to instead of procrastinating. Anyhow we'll see how it goes!
Here's Amelie in the Jolly Jumper! she loves it!

Visiting

Yesterday Amelie, Yuki and I went to Mei's house to play. Yuki's boss Koichi and Nami were there too with their son, Kosei who is almost 9 months old. Here's a photo of them playing. The other photo is Amelie sitting in the bassinette after a walk with Dad. Amelie is getting really good at sitting up. She can't crawl yet but can go backwards and is very good at roilling and angling herself so she gets around. Very quickly too!

We're Back!

So sorry I haven't been blogging lately. We've been really busy and both Amelie and I have had a cold. Amelie wasn't so bad, mine is getting better now. So the Masaoka family is back on its feet and eager to get blogging!
So much has happened lately! Natsumi my host sister from Osaka came to stay for 6 days and it was good to see her again. I think she had fun this trip to Oz and enjoyed playing with Amelie.
I met Erika today, her baby Talita is looking bigger and so cute! It's amazing how small a baby is when its new.
Joey's belly is getting bigger and we're all looking forward to her baby being born too! Its due in November, so we have a while to wait.
Uni is going well, I havent missed a lecture so far! My first assignment is coming up so I better get on with it but it has been good to have something completely removed from babies to concentrate on.
Amelie hasnt been sleeping very well for the last 2-3 weeks (part of the reason why I got sick I think) and so we're trying to figure out the possible reasons for that. It could be teeth, introducing food to earlier, not introducing enough food, change in behaviour or sleep patterns... so many things - so we're trying to cross them off the list one by one. We'll get to the bottom of it though!
Anyway, will write again soon. Here's so more pics!

Tokyo Stars

I thought it was time to show everyone photos of Baba and Jiji in Japan. Baba is coming to visit in November and we all can't wait! The other photo is from Melissa's house last week. Amelie was checking out the xylophone with great interest! It won't be long before she can crawl. Even now she is starting to go backwards and getting frustrated that she can't move.

Playgroup

This is James and Mizuho
And this is the chubbiest baby I've seen so far, Kyra.

Sorry we've been a bit absent this week. On Wednesday Amelie and I went to visit Melissa and she had also invited some other mothers over. There were children and mothers everywhere! I already knew a Japanese lady named Mizuho and her baby James. There was another Japanese lady there called Nao with 2 of her 3 children - Kai and Kyra. Very cute.

On Friday Alex, Mei, Amelie and I went to Japanese playgroup at Wooloowin State School. There were so many Japanese mothers & it was a little intimidating but they were friendly and it will be good practise for my Japanese and Amelie. We're going next week too.

Other big news is that yesterday Amelie ate her first food!! It was baby rice cereal (crushed up rice mixed with breast milk)! She loved it and was very eager to have some more today! We were very surprised at how much she seemed to enjoy it. Yuki is very pleased because finally he'll get the chance to feed Amelie more than just the odd bottle. Yay!
